Thanks very much for this kind note. I stayed off Twitter even when it was new and the Times was pressuring us to get on it. I knew that, if I had some way to reach into my pocket and tell a thousand people what I really thought — about anything — after I’d had a beer or two, that I’d get myself fired real fast.

Other than writing occasionally on Medium, I haven’t figured out what to do. One advantage of working for a big outlet is that you don’t have do self-promotion.
